Transmissions from the COVID crunch // in-person updates // Ainsley's wardrobe

Hello Friends,

If it seems like it's been awhile since our last update well, there's a good reason. The reason? Yeah, you guessed it, COVID.

I'd hoped our next post would be an announcement regarding our return to live, in-person shows, but with Austin currently in Stage 4 (and hurtling toward Stage 5) of COVID risk-based guidelines it seems like it could be a bit longer. How much longer? Hard to say, but it isn't from a lack of preparedness on the band's part.

Simply put, Western Threads is fully vaccinated, rehearsed, and wanting to play but conflicted about booking shows in the age of COVID. Speaking for myself, the desire to perform is offset by the desire to be a good citizen. I've never been in a war zone, experienced famine, or been swept up in catastrophe like many others around the world, past and present. With any luck, this pandemic will be greatest civic hardship of my life, and I'd like to look back on it some day and be proud of the way I behaved.

That includes being self-aware when it comes to staging in-person events. Does that mean we'd turn down any event offered to us? Maybe not. Outdoor event at a club? Hey, that could be ok! A house party where everyone is vaccinated? That might be cool! Have us provide the soundtrack for an intimate dinner date in your vaccinated home? How romantic! A crowded indoor brewery with loads of people hanging out without masks? Probably not.

What else to report? Not much although we are arranging new songs for an upcoming release and a potential single or two are in the works. Oh, and Ainsley has amassed a lot of outfits that she wants to wear when we do play again.

We miss you all and hope you're well. Remember, Western Threads loves you, now and forever.

- Jacob
